Nov. 27, 2011 First Birthday!

Scott's birthday cake! He turned One today!

Uncle Tristan watches as Scott reaches for decorations on his cake!

Crazy angle, but it looks worse when I turn it! Scott takes decorations off his cake... before we sing Happy birthday and blow out the candle!

Emily plants a loving kiss on her son's head as he plays with the decorations.

Stephen helps his son blow out the candle.

Time to open presents! Scott prefers to play with the tissue paper that was wrapped around the hand-made slippers from Aunt Becky!

Oh Boy!!! A monster truck!

Scott admires his present.

Tristan and his wife, Krystina, on the right, and Emily and Stef on the left, watching Scott with his present.

This picture is from Steven's camera! Scott is excited to see his present!

"Oh boy! How do I get this out of here?"

Now the really awesome present! The big cube with a different activity on each side! Most of the kids chipped in on this for him.

I couldn't resist putting this picture on here of Tristan playing with the monster truck!

Of course, when all is said and done, the box it came in is the most fun to play with! lol

Time out for a Grandpa hug!

Chest hair check! Scott can sure get a hold, too! Poor Stef!

When we got home he wasn't ready for the fun to end! He's playing with another one of his presents!

Nov. 19 - 23, 2011

Scott has figured out how to move the beads along the wires.

A toy in one hand, a graham cracker in the other!

After a minute he laid the rest of the graham cracker on the chair while he played.

Gotta hug the bear!

Scott leaning on the bear and playing with the Top.

"Wake up and play with me, Grandpa!"

"Hmmm...what's under the couch?"

I decided to make Scott a hooded sleeper. I used these sweat pants for fabric, and one of Scott's sleepers and a hooded jacket for a pattern.

I traced the various parts of the sleeper and jacket, then cut them out.

Here are the pieces, all cut out. On the left is the scraps that are left.

Here, I have it finished except for the zipper.

And there he is, wearing it!

...and getting ready to go play while wearing it! It should keep him warm when the cold nights of winter come.

Scott is cheerful in the morning when we go to get him out of his crib!

On Tuesday (Nov. 22) we had an accumulation of around 10" of snow. We bundled Scott up and took him out to play in it. I stood him by this tree to take pictures of him. He was squealing and talking to the snow!

He spent a while looking at his mitten and watching snowflakes land on it!

It took him a minute to get his balance in the sled when it moved over the bumpy snow, but he quickly figured out how to put a hand down and brace himself.

He enjoyed his sled ride!

He climbed over his toy basket and sat behind it!

He seemed to think it was a cool place to sit and play!

Little does he know the bear is about to sneak up on him and peek over the side of the chair! Ha ha!

Nov. 24 - 26, Thanksgiving, etc.

Scott on his Daddy's shoulders, Mommy next to them.

Daddy munches on Scott's toes!

Grandpa pushes Scott on the lawn swing. The day after Thanksgiving we took out the couch and brought the lawn swing in. It's much more fun than a couch!

Scott loves swinging on it!

The kitchen after Scott passed through doing inventory of the cabinets!

Nov. 14th - 18th, 2011

Scott, in his new jammies, plays before bedtime!

"Wonder if I can put this shoe over my jammies?"

This view is from the upstairs vent hole where the heat goes through into the bedroom up there. I peeked down at Scott while he took his nap! Usually he sleeps upstairs in his crib, but I wanted to do some cleaning up there, so I put him down for his nap in the playpen in the living room.

Scott had been banging on the tin cup with the blue block! I can't imagine it being very comfortable sitting in the box on the blocks, but ...oh well!

"Do you need me to adjust anything on the TV? The DVD player? I just want to help!"

Grandpa and Scott learn how to build block-towers!

Grandpa sets up blocks like dominoes...

...and "Wheeee", they tumbled down, one against the other!

This smile cracks me up! It reminds me of one of the "Calvin and Hobbes" comics where his Dad was trying to get him to smile for the camera. Calvin gave a sickly-sweet smile something like this! rotfl

Another new pair of jammies. These and the other one (first picture on this post) were from his Mommy and Daddy. He was wiggling a mile a minute and it was difficult to distract him enough to stay still for this picture!

He threw the big teddy bear back in the corner, then climbed over the toy barn to play back there with his bear-friend!

"Can I go hunting with you, Grandpa?"

Scott chews on the plastic lid from a can of hot chocolate while Grandpa says good-bye!

This is where he got the plastic lid from!

In fact, he was a very busy boy! He cleaned out my pan lid cabinet for me, too!

"Grandma, will you make cupcakes?"

He also explored the cabinet under the microwave!

Scott sips water from his own cup. He finished it all! (We started small...about a teaspoon of water! lol)

All three children... The cat on the chair, the dog on her rug, and scott going back and forth between them!

"Is this toothpaste approved by the American Dental Association?" (Actually, I think he's holding Grandma's tube of toothpaste in this picture, but we got the right toothpaste on his brush!)

I brush his teeth for him, then let him play with the toothbrush for a minute. This is our nightly ritual. First he would watch me brush mine, then I'd brush his. Now he insists on having his brushed first, then he plays with his toothbrush while I brush my own teeth.

Beddy-bye time. Tonight's friend of choice is the white bear.
